ABOUT

A MATTER OF PASSION

Born March 14th 1979, Alex Caizergues has been thrown very young in the sailing world, when his parents moved to Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône in winter 1980. His dad, Philippe, is already passionated by windsurfing since many years.

In 1985, when he’s president of the “Wind Club”, he’s organizing the first “International Speed Week” where the World best windsurfers comes to battle the well-known Mistral wind on the Napoleon beach and try to beat the world speed sailing record.

Alexandre, still really young, meets for the first time, between his dad’s feet, the most talented sportsmen and heroes of the 80′s, Pascal Maka (first french outright world record holder), Robby Naish, Laird Hamilton or the beautiful Jenna de Rosnay. It’s the beginning of a passion for this universe, made with sun, sand and wind.

After trying to windsurf when he was a teenager, it’s finally at the end of his international marketing studies in Marseille, in 2002, that he takes time to discover kiteboarding, a young sport launched in 2000. Kiteboarding quickly become more than a hobbie and it’s now a real way of life. Alex wants to live for kiteboarding and it’s going to make all the efforts for that!

As a first job, he chose to be a sales representative (commercial en français) for 3 years, working for a shops network and its purchasing group. He’s meeting now the “professional” side of his passion. He’s networking a lot with all the actors of the water sport business. At the same time, he’s discovering the speed with his kites, a young but promising discipline. In April 2005, he’s taking part in his first speed competition, in Leucate (south of France) during the well-know Mondial du Vent and ending it at the 12th rank.

This first competition is going to change a lot of things…

Taken by the competition virus, Alex is convinced he has got abilities to do much better but also to take part in the sport history and to live his passion “full on”. He quitted Magic Surf in July 2005 and go for it…. it’s the beginning of a great adventure!

A GREAT LIST OF SUCCESS

In only 5 years of competition, Alex proved his value both in the kite and the speed sailing world.

With already 3 World Champion (running World Champion) and 2 French Champion titles, 2 kite world records and 2 outright world records, he is today one of the most titled kiteboarder in the world.
He recently entered “the legend” when he first broke the 100 km/h barrier the 14th of October 2010, in Lüderitz, Namibia.
