MONDIAL DU VENT 2011 : ORANGE SPEED CROSSING DAY 1

Full on the run of Leucate!!! Picture credit : Mondial du Vent

A first physical but winning day at the Orange Speed Crossing in Leucate for the Mondial du Vent. Ranked second behind Rob at the end of the first leg, i won the second and took the lead of the overall ranking. Best run at 41,6 knots. Nothing is done yet but i have great feelings on this run (even with the 60km of long distance yesterday…), my gear is working perfectly and psychologically speaking, it’s better like that!

Another big day is announced today, briefing is programmed at 8.30 again for a first possible start around 10.30. If you want to follow “live” the race, you can consult twitter accounts of @WJTweets and @Ride_sessions.

MONDIAL DU VENT 2011 : DAY 1

The Mondial du Vent 2011 poster

First day of official competition yesterday in Leucate for the 15th edition of the Mondial du Vent but sadly no race… A strong South wind during the friday to saturday night simply destroyed the beach and huge waves were there all yesterday, stopping the safety boats to ensure a proper security for the riders. So no race but a cool training session in long distance with the F ONE crew, riding between the huge waves.

We will have to wait until monday and the comeback of Tramontana wind to start this Pro/Amators long distance, the 72 registered riders are all fired up!!!

BE MY GUEST : NEW VIDEO SERIE BY F-ONE

Be My Guest : new video serie by F-ONE

This new video serie objective is really simple : F-ONE team riders send to each others some invitation to come and discovr their own spot and discipline! The first episode tells my meeting with Dominican F-ONE team riders Alex Soto and Robinson Hilario in Cabarete, where we shared a sick session in the famous spot “La Boca”. The result is nice images and this trip, even if it was way too short, will stay long time anchored in my mind… As a bonus at the end, my worst crash ever on the slider, where i almost break my neck on it, with no wind at all!!! Well, don’t hesitate one second more and click on the picture to launch the video.

HEAVY DUTY INSIDE THE PRESS RELEASE TODAY…

With the cover of the “Journal du Nautisme” (famous sailing newspaper in France) this month and a great article inside, our press release get bigger and bigger! Cool article wrote by Fred Pelatan, awesome and funny photoshoot realized by Pauce (his website here), and all above that with my friend Antoine Albeau (multiple windsurf champion), you will be able to find the complete article here or inside the “Press” section .

Yesterday, i had the chance, this time with another champion Rob Douglas, to shoot a TV program for french TV M6 at the Mondial du Vent in Leucate. It was great to see Rob again and his two brothers Jamie and Morgan. Because of light wind condition, we just made a short session with long distance boards but weather was great, sunny and almost warm ;) .

Nice to see Rob again!!!

Let's go to Port La Nouvelle!!!

A nice spring day for a cool shoot!

CRAZY APRIL!!!

11th of April 2011.... Boardshort session, at Home!

Yes, sometimes in the South of France, you can have great surprise!!!! Weather forecast was predicting a nice “no wind” day, fully sunny, well… a perfect day for a relaxing SUP session at the Napoleon beach in Port-Saint-Louis! 25°c in the shades, no wind at all, StandUp Paradise… Until of course a little 15 knots of wind came, just enough to change our plans!!! Pumping the Bandit 4 10m and let’s go for a SUP Kite session! And of course only wearing a boardshort!!!

Today is another story, Mistral is ON, let’s change the gear and go for a speed session with a 4/3mm wetsuit! April, the month of the EXTREMS!!!!
